Dear Parents,
Happy Valentine’s Day! We had a wonderful celebration in our classroom this afternoon.
First grade rocked their Scantron tests this week. They were focused and respectful as the worked. Everyone worked hard and tried their best. We will be communicating scores with you in the next few weeks.
This week we reviewed words with magic E. Students learned that when “e” is at the end of the word it makes the vowel say its name. Students learned to make predictions which reading. While reading, students stopped and asked themselves, “what will happen next?” Continue to practice this skill at home as you read together.
In math, we wrapped up our unit on place value. Students are still working to master expanded form and being able to identify the value of tens. Next week we will start another addition and subtraction unit. Keep practicing facts at home.
This week we created a George Washington report and started to learn about Abraham Lincoln. Next week we will wrap up our president unit and start learning about Martin Luther King Jr.
Monday there is no school. Remember if you adventure into D.C. take a drive past the monuments and the White House. Friday will be our 100 days of school!
Monday, February 22, there is no school. There is school February 29th.
Thank you for your support,
Ms. Tynan
